For years you've been watching your tongue so that what you say doesn't end up here. Now, you'll have to watch how you look. You never know who has a camera.
true story. WatchDawgs just don't drink and drive. There are many of them that use the service themselves and one has a quote up here ... They are non-judgmental and just wanted to help students out by providing them with FREE, SAFE, NONJUDGMENTAL rides home instead of them getting ripped off by the taxi companies, or getting in white vans, or anything of that nature. And look at the rest of Overheard, there are drunken quotes all over it (and most of them aren't that grat). OH! And just to put it out there, there are a couple of quotes up here that were said by SOBER people, not drunks... you don't have to be drunk to ride with WatchDawgs, just willing to get home for free and safely in a REAL vehicle and not a rickety 15-passenger van!! I know I will when they come back next semester!!! :-D
Isn't it slightly judgmental if they post what they hear on OIA? That sort of goes against the whole "non-judgmental" thing.
However, I will agree that the members of Watchdawgs drink, and also provide safer rides home than the sketch ass taxi drivers and other weirdos out there.
On Monday thru Thursday, people who live on campus could ride the overnighter bus that runs 24 hours. It picks up at the arch every 20 minutes or so. Again, less sketchy that taxis and much freer.
I don't think that them posting what they hear as judgmental. We all know people say funny things, that's the purpose of this website. As some one that has volunteered and ridden WatchDawgs many times, I know that the quotes you hear each night are priceless! It's the same as walking down the street downtown at 2:30AM (when they are still working to get ANYONE that needs a free ride home safely) and hearing these things. Now, please take notice that WatchDawgs do NOT choose the titles for these quotes. The titles are admined by OIA staff ... while those may seem judgmental, they are not the ideals of, nor do they represent WatchDawgs...
If you don't want to work them or use their service, don't condemn those that do or judge the organization. It has been around for 8 years now and it is a prime service that I am proud to say I had a part in at one time during its tenure.
