The sorostitute really is a retard for thinking that affirmative action is responsible for Obama getting into office (duh), but affirmative action is maybe the most insulting and racist institution left today - sure it lets black people into jobs, schools and whatever, but it sends the message that the only reason they could get them is because they're black and not because they're good enough on their own.

#1 I am FAR from a "redneck". #2 it was orginally established because there was a time that black people were not given the some opertunities as whites. It was later found that women suffered from the same thing, so it was implimented for the female population as well. AA's are under respresented because the liberal demicrats have beaten down the moral of the black population, and so, many of them feel that they have no real ability to make it out there with out some one forcing it, insead of seeing they are worth it and have the ability like every one else. It's sad IMO. Now aday's any one of race or gender can make it if they put there mind to it and work for it.

Actually, Affirmative Action is a technique used to attempt to level the playing field; whites, as a class, have the advantage of a few centuries of cultural dominance and prosperity, whereas just 200 years ago African-Americans were being beaten for picking cotton too slowly. The idea that getting a decent job because of affirmative action would be demoralizing is simply retarded-consider the inflated poverty levels amongst AA's, as well as the 30% incarceration rate, and tell me that the balance isn't weighted in one direction.
This is serious business.

There are those on both sides who make others are the same race look bad. Yes there is a high number of AA's in jail, but statisically it is AA's committing more petty crimes. BUT, look at who the mass merderers are. You know the people who do sick twisted shit. They are ALL WHITE. It was only a few thousand years ago that the Egyptions (blacks) enslaveds the Hebrews (whites) and they were much harder and demoralizeing than the white settlers. In this day and time the lines of racism are much thinner than they used to be. It is the liberal population that is keeping the the memory of things of the past so fresh and keep the wunds open. EVERYONE is worth it! And EVERYONE should have to work for it. Think of a rape victim. Now remind that person every day thay they are a victim. That the rape is WHO they are. Remind them how they were treated as less than human. How is that person going to feel? How is that person going to run thier life based on those ideas being constantly drilled into thier head? Now think of how that same person would react to hearing, "You ARE NOT a victim! You are a strong and capable person! Fuck that piece of shit who did this, you can a will rise above! It will take work but damn it you are worth it!" Makes you think. BTW I am of AA and native american decent, thank you.

And I'm really sick of hearing that there are so many people of this race or that in jail because of racial profiling. 99% of people in jail are there because they broke the law. And once again, there are exceptions to the rule. there are some, but few, who are there unjustly.

yeah but jim crow laws were a lot more recent than that. lynchings and institutionalized discrimination... discriminatory lending? still pretty prevalent and all of these things were recent enough that the average black person (i say black because i think AA makes you sound less american, like a 2nd class american. i think it's a silly term.) doesn't have the credit or the monetary resources that the average whit person does. it's only a couple of generations. did you grow up in a nice neighborhood? did you attend a decent school growing up? did your parents ever lend you money for college, etc? if so then these things have given you a leg up on people who didn't have those things. affirmative action is attempting to give some privileges back to minorities that white males have always had. that said, i think it's a flawed system and there is validity to the comment that it is insulting to minorities. but it's a step in the right direction that we are acknowledging that mistakes of recent generations are still making social mobility difficult for current generations. this isn't an excuse for failure, but it does make it more difficult to succeed and we need to try to understand that and fix it.

While I agree that affirmative action is a crock of shit, the group left holding the bag has tended to be Asian males. They aren't a "preferred minority" since they're usually over-represented as a class. Though, white males aren't that far behind in being shit upon.
